"Strip Search" is back! The dark but raunchy story of a male stripper, told against the background of his real-time strip, sold out when it first appeared at the Rosemary Branch in April 2010. But this time the story is different because the actor is different the up-and-coming black star. Damola Onadeko.
Damola Onadeko has experience as a stripper, having used stripping as a way of paying his way through college. But he is also an in-demand dancer and actor for music videos and commercials (Heineken, Proctor & Gamble), and on the cusp of becoming extremely well-known. He is currently awaiting the release of two feature films: "Shackles", directed by Folusho Johnson, is best described as the Black version of "Alfie", and Damola plays the title part. He is shortly starting filming on "Black Candles", an 8-part TV series in which he plays leading paranormal investigator Alex Moulin. Damola has extensive stage experience in parts as varied as Fagin and Dracula. He last appeared in Edinburgh in the controversial "Denied" by Jodi de Souza, about Muslim honour killings.
SQUADDIE tells of being wrenched from everything familiar to a small ex-mining town in South Wales as a child. (His Mum fell for a Welsh sailor, who abused him mercilessly.) He becomes a teenage rent boy to feed a gambling addiction; joins the army after a spell in Borstal, followed by skinny kid Christian who is obviously crazy about him. But Christian takes a bullet in Al Basrah and..... Tonight SQUADDIE is baring his soul as well as his body. Tonight SQUADDIE is stripping. To the bone. REVIEWS
"exhilarating, inspiring. Awesome in the true sense of the word
.. Some nice one-liners and amusing anecdotes about anonymous MPs and plaster-dust-covered builders in public toilets keep the audience chuckling along in between the spurts of bare flesh and baby oil" (Paul Dunn, Remotegoat official reviewer)
"BOOK EARLY - THIS WILL SELL OUT. A HIT a veritable hit which deserves a West End run." (Philip Herbert, Remotegoat)
"Peter Scott-Presland's text is as clever as it is outraged, making 'Strip Search' a (back, sack and) cracking piece of fringe theatre." (Matt Truman, Time Out)
"A beautifully written emotional piece of theatre, performed with passion and sincerity" *
"Fun, tears and laughter rolled into one. Fabulous!" * "Fantastic!" * "Love it. Bare and simple" * "Very powerful thought-provoking" Audience members
